Is anyone surprised I burned Christmas Dinner?

Is anyone surprised that I burned Christmas Dinner? Every year my little family celebrates our private family Christmas before Santa even leaves the North Pole. We have never done Santa, and I like having our little Christmas away from the hustle and bustle of all our bigger family parties. About 5 years ago we started having a little candle lit dinner, with sparkling grape juice in fancy glasses, all on our red Christmas table cloth. It’s a tradition I cherish.

This year the family deiced on Nachos. I spread the chips on a cookie sheet and sprinkle the meat, beans and cheese and then broil them in the oven for that extra yummy flavor. Last time I made nachos, one pan wasn’t enough. So after I popped the first pan, which was already set on high broil, I went to work on creating the next one. Well, what Christmas dinner would be complete without a routine smoke alarm check and burnt nachos?

I do love an unforgettable occasion. I mean, who talks about those dinners mom made perfectly. It’s not like the stories that withstand time begin with, “Remember that dinner that went perfect. Mom had the table set so beautifully”. Nope, they start with, “Oh my Gosh! Remember that disastrous time when… the oven caught on fire…MOM, burnt the nachos…our personal home made pizzas were not cooked all the way through…when the fancy glasses broke with the sparking grape juice in it… the power went out in the middle of cooking dinner and dad spent the remainder of the night gassing up generators. Lol Yes, I wish I was making it up. But what can I say, I want EVERY Christmas to be a MEMORABLE Christmas. I know you all know what I am talking about. Come on, share your Christmas dinner catastrophes with me! I gotta believe I am not the only one.
