I picked up Timmy and Bo to take Timmy to the doctor. About 2 weeks ago, Timmy had trouble breathing, I figured it was because he had a fever and was too active. But I took him to the doctor today just to make sure he was ok. No problem! I had just enough time to run him into the doc, have her tell me had a case of bronchitis, and then get back home to pick up Josh and Kate from their after school activities.
Well, after 2 chest x-rays, an EKG, and some blood work I wasn’t going to make it. And my phone had 4% battery left. So I quick left a voicemail for a friend of mine who had a daughter in cheer with Kate. She called me back just before my phone died. Whew! Crisis averted. Once we left the doctor I stopped and grabbed a cheep charger, while driving home Kate called and said they couldn’t find Josh anywhere. Ugh. Where did that kid go on a day I had a friend doing me a favor, without his cell phone, no doubt!
“Mom, does he have reaching higher today.” Kate asked
“Oh my GOSH! Yes, tell Laurie I am sooooo sorry.” I responded.
Why do I do this?! Last year Jackie did an all call to all 3 buildings because I couldn’t find Josh, my highshcooler! And there he was at reaching higher. And, just a month ago I marched myself into the high school office to page him, and when he showed up I said, “What are you doing, I have been waiting for you.”
“Um, I have play auditions.” He said with one eyebrow raised.
“Oh, yeah. I knew that. Just checking.” I said sheepishly as I walked out the door.
So today I had my FRIEND searching for MY kid, who was right where he was supposed to be. Seriously, why does this keep happening? Moms are supposed to know where their kids are…it’s just embarrassing.
Oh well, what’s done is done. But then later I heard Kate telling Jess about cheer and how Bri wasn’t there.

“What!” I said “Bri, wasn’t there. That little stinker. Get off the phone Kate. I have to call Laurie.”
My friend’s daughter wasn’t even at practice today. Oh my gosh, the only reason I called her is because I knew her daughter would be there with Kate. Nope, they had an appointment today. So she drove home from her appointment and on her way picked up Kate, searched for Josh, and then dropped Kate off. And this is the friend who, a couple years ago, made the crazy statement to me that I am so “together.” Ha, well, she sure saw the “real” me, that she apparently had been missing, till today, and like I told her years ago…I am not so together. Lol
Funny thing is Kate said she told Laurie,
“Now you do know my mom is going to call you if she finds out Bri wasn’t there today.” Lol
And Laurie told me that she said to her husband, “I am on my way home with Bri so I can make it to get Kate, Jamie will have a fit when she finds out, but I am just going to help her out anyway.
Lol Too funny. Those girls know me too well! I DID have a fit! I told Laurie she was grounded and couldn’t watch TV for a week. Lol But boy am I glad she rescued me!!
I am so thankful to ALL my amazing friends who help me get this zoo to where they need to be.
