Most Profound Statement Ever!!! You’ll never guess…

Most Profound Statement Ever!!! You’ll never guess…

Ok Everyone! Are you ready for one of the most profound statement I have heard working the TurningLeaf Seminars.

Profound words of Dean Nixon: DON’T LET VELCROW GROW ON YOUR BUTT AND YOUR CHAIR!”

After the laughter subsided, including my own, I thought, hmmmm, not exactly the statement one would predict to hear at a seminar, yet how PERFECT.

Even thought Dean was being light-hearted, the message he was sending packed quite a punch.
We can read books, go to seminars, take college classes, watch all the “how to” youtube videos to learn pretty much whatever we want, but ultimately, we gotta get the “butt” off the “chair.”
Again, don’t misunderstand. We are all busy, I know. I personally have been classified as being a workaholic…
I grocer shop, feed kids, do laundry, work on marketing, write blog, do more laundry, feed the kids again, advertise for a workshop, clean the house, feed kids again, clean the house,an hour later tell kids to clean the house again, lol. I think you see my point. My butt isn’t in a chair.

But what about those things I need to do that make me nervous, or I am not sure how to do them. When I look ahead at the steps that scare me, but I know are necessary to get me where I want to go…as a wife, mother, family member and as a Life Coach, sometimes I want to sit down with a bag of Peanut Butter Cups(special dark, yummmm) and watch a movie.
But as I look back on my past, I don’t regret the moments I chose to jump and “failed”, per-say, as much as I regret the moments of not jumping! It is those steps that scared me, yet I took them, that got me to where I am today!
The first time I sang in church. My first audition for a play. The moments I said I am sorry, the moments I gave forgiveness. The moments I share my heart with my husband, family and close friends, not sure what they will think. The moment I chose to be a mom, oh wait, that wasn’t a choice, that was a surprise, lol. The moments I am open with my children. The moment I chose to pursue a life coaching certification and all the moments that lead me to open and office.  The moment I chose to publish a book.  The moment I said, “yes, I want to help people with their children and self confidence, even though I am not a “Perfect” parent, and I still get scared.
When I look at those choices, they were scary, and now I am so grateful I didn’t “let velcro grow on my butt and my chair” Even now, it is still scary and challenging at times and I can feel the velcro start to form.  But,I gotta rip it off like a band aid and just JUMP!
So today I challenge you. What have you been afraid to do, but you know it would be good for you.  What do you want to do, but fear holds you back. I challenge you…”Don’t let Velcro grow on your butt and your chair!”  Just JUMP!!!
